The East entrance to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, made famous in the "Rocky" movie series when Rocky Balboa climbs the steps in triumph at the end of his run. It also happens to be a fantastic area to train because of the empty fountains on the sides and huge block-shape architecture.
Open year-round. Bathrooms and food are a few blocks away in the city. Security is rarely a problem, and even when they do approach you, they just tell you to be careful. Only annoyance may be heavy crowds during good weather, but watching everyone's Rocky impressions is worth it.
Behind the Museum is a great natural area with many rocks, cliffs, and open grass land. Climbing is forbidden on the rock cliffs so use them at your own discretion but everything else is fair game.
